BOTOX INJECTIONS

BOTOX, the commercial name for botulinum toxin type A, has been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use since 2002. It is manufactured by Allergan as a purified and isolated protein. As of 2007, Botox injection is the most common cosmetic operation, with 4.6 million procedures in the United States

Low doses of BOTOX are administered via tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause crow's feet or the frown lines between the brows. BOTOX temporarily improves the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown and forehead lines, as well as crow´s feet.

Are the injections painful? For wrinkle treatments topical anaesthestic cream can be applied. Some people find no pain relief necessary.

Do Teosyal injections hurt?

Teosyal is injected into the skin in tiny amounts using an ultrafine needle. To optimize your comfort level during the short procedure, cold pads are applied on the treated areas.

Can Teosyal replace surgical procedures?

No, although Teosyal is sometimes used in conjunction with surgery in order to fill out wrinkles that cannot be removed by surgery.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects are inflammatory reactions such as redness which may be associated with stinging or pain on pressure at the injection site. These reactions may last for a week. Swellings or nodules may develop at the injection site.

Precautions prior to treatments:

avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort or high doses of Vitamin E supplements before being treated. Also inform your Doctor if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores.
